\Lop\, n. [AS. loppe.] A flea.[Obs.] --Cleveland.
\Lop\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. {Lopped}; p. pr. & vb. n. {Lopping}.] [Prov. G. luppen, lubben,to cut, geld, or OD. luppen, D. lubben.] 1. To cut off as the top or extreme part of anything; to sho? -- by cutting off the extremities; to cut off, or remove as superfluous parts; as, to lop a tree or its branches. ``With branches lopped, in wood or mountain felled.'' --Milton. Expunge the whole, or lop the excrescent parts. --Pope. 2. To cut partly off and bend down; as, to lop bushes in a hedge.
