Sw. dangla, Dan. dingle, Sw. dingla, Icel. dingla; perh. from E. ding.] To hang loosely, or with a swinging or jerking motion. He'd rather on a gibbet dangle Than miss his dear delight, to wrangle. --Hudibras.
