Abolition of function, whether complete or partial; esp., the loss of the power of voluntary motion, with or without that of sensation, in any part of the body; palsy. See {Hemiplegia}, and {Paraplegia}. Also used figuratively. ``Utter paralysis of memory.'' --G. Eliot.
