Cf. {Emblem}, {Gland}, {Palaver}, {Parabola}, {Parley}, {Parabole}, {Symbol}.] A comparison; a similitude; specifically, a short fictitious narrative of something which might really occur in life or nature, by means of which a moral is drawn; as, the parables of Christ. --Chaucer.
