One of several species of sea birds of the genus {Sula},
allied to the pelicans.
Note: The common gannet of Europe and America ({S. bassana}),
is also called {solan goose}, {chandel goose}, and
{gentleman}. In Florida the wood ibis is commonly
called gannet.
