\En*chant"er\, n. [Cf. F. enchanteur.] One who enchants; a sorcerer or magician; also, one who delights as by an enchantment. Like ghosts from an enchanter fleeing. --Shelley. {Enchanter's nightshade} (Bot.), a genus ({Circ[ae]a}) of low inconspicuous, perennial plants, found in damp, shady places.
