A book containing a summary of principles, especially of religious doctrine, reduced to the form of questions and answers. The Jews, even till this day, have their catechisms. --Hooker. {The Larger Catechism}, {The Shorter Catechism}. See {Westminster Assembly}, under {Assembly}.
