A belemnite, or thunderstone. {Thunderbolt beetle} (Zo["o]l.), a long-horned beetle ({Arhopalus fulminans}) whose larva bores in the trunk of oak and chestnut trees. It is brownish and bluish-black, with W-shaped whitish or silvery markings on the elytra.
