\Tam"pi*on\, n. [F. tampon, tapon, tape, of Dutch or German origin. See {Tap} a pipe or plug, and cf. {Tamp}, {Tampop}, {Tompion}.] [Written also {tampeon}, and {tompion}.] 1.
