1. (Bot.) A genus of plants of the Poppy family.
Note: {Sanguinaria Canadensis}, or bloodroot, is the only
species. It has a perennial rootstock, which sends up a
few roundish lobed leaves and solitary white blossoms
in early spring. See {Bloodroot}.

emetic, etc.
