A fish ({Scomberomorus regalis}) similar to, but larger than,
the Spanish mackerel, and having elongated spots, common
about Florida and the West Indies.
\Pin*ta"do\, n.; pl. {Pintados}. [Sp., painted, fr. pintar to paint.] (Zo["o]l.) Any bird of the genus {Numida}. Several species are found in Africa. The common pintado, or Guinea fowl, the helmeted, and the crested pintados, are the best known. See {Guinea fowl}, under {Guinea}. |
