\Pho*ro"nis\, n. [NL., fr. L. Phoronis, a surname of Io, Gr. ?.] (Zo["o]l.) A remarkable genus of marine worms having tentacles around the mouth. It is usually classed with the gephyreans. Its larva ({Actinotrocha}) undergoes a peculiar metamorphosis.
