mostly to {A. glauca} and {A. pungens}, shrubs of California,
Oregon, etc., with reddish smooth bark, ovate or oval
coriaceous evergreen leaves, and bearing clusters of red
berries, which are said to be a favorite food of the grizzly
bear.
