To quit their austerity and be jocose and pleasant with an adversary. --Shaftesbury. All . . . jocose or comical airs should be excluded. --I. Watts. Syn: Jocular; facetious; witty; merry; pleasant; waggish; sportive; funny; comical. -- {Jo*cose"ly}, adv. -- {Jo*cose"ness}, n.
