marshy ground, supposed to be occasioned by the
decomposition of animal or vegetable substances, or by
some inflammable gas; -- popularly called also
{Will-with-the-wisp}, or {Will-o'-the-wisp}, and
{Jack-with-a-lantern}, or {Jack-o'-lantern}.
