\Hes*per"i*des\, n. pl. [L., fr. Gr. ?.] 1. (Class. Myth.) The daughters of Hesperus, or Night (brother of Atlas), and fabled possessors of a garden producing golden apples, in Africa, at the western extremity of the known world.
