\Ci*cu"ta\, n. [L., the poison hemlock.] (Bot.) a genus of poisonous umbelliferous plants, of which the water hemlock or cowbane is best known. Note: The name cicuta is sometimes erroneously applied to Conium maculatum, or officinal hemlock.
