\Cha"ja\, n. [Native name.] (Zo["o]l.) The crested screamer of Brazil ({Palamedea, or Chauna, chavaria}), so called in imitation of its notes; -- called also {chauna}, and {faithful kamichi}. It is often domesticated and is useful in guarding other poultry. See {Kamichi}.
