[Obs.] --Holished. \Chaf"fer\, v. i. [imp. & p. p. {Chaffered}; p. pr. & vb. n. {Chaffering}.] [OE. chaffaren, fr. chaffare, chapfare, cheapfare, a bargaining. See {Chaffer}, n.] 1.
